St Kilda Photo Dump

I managed to take a walk around St Kilda yesterday afternoon and give my new D40 a bit of a test run.

I discovered that Nikon's are a lot different to Canons in terms of usage, not more difficult, just different. I also discovered my first minor irk with the D40, which is that it has no LCD display on the camera near the shutter release, like pretty much every other SLR ever. You can check the settings on the LCD screen on the back and through the viewfinder, so this might just be a case of getting used to it. Getting used to manually focusing the 50mm lens in outdoor conditions wasn't as easy as I hoped and I'm not sure that I like fixed lens (is that the right term?) that aren't wide angles. The kit lens was really nice to use though, the auto focusing seems a world apart from the crappy, noisy, old lens on my Canon EOS 1000.

Anyway photos...
